Years a go I used to spend a lot of time shooting and editing photos of cars. I'd go to shows at the weekend, shoot a bunch of photos and slowly post them to instagram. Doing this was great, but I always took way too much gear:
DSLR with Battery Grip
50mm
85mm
135mm
24-70mm
Battery
Fisheye
Speedlight
Spare Battery
Emergency SD card which I’m not sure actually works
Snack
Polaroid
Another Spare Battery
I would take all of this stuff with me every time, and guess what, I'd end up using none of it, maybe a couple of lenses, at most.
It was overkill and I always wondered if I reduced down the amount of gear I used, would I still get all the shots I wanted or would I find myself wishing I'd brought everything, just incase.
Years later (literally right now) I started carrying the Fujifilm X-A1 with me everyday, it’s small enough to carry around without thinking about which lens I should have or what I might be missing out on, and good enough to get a decent picture when the light’s right.
Anyway, when I heard one of the best meets in London was coming up I thought it would be fun to shoot one more car meet with a totally different camera and see what I could get.
And this is it! These are my best shots from the day, it was really weird trying to compose with such a wide lens, the TTArtisan 27mm was fun to shoot with, I'm a fan of prime lenses so having to rethink frames to a new focal length was an interesting challenge.
I shot everything RAW and processed in Lightroom, I'm pleased with how a bunch of these came out, there are even a couple in here which made it to the portfolio.
Never underestimate this little gem of a camera, I'm telling you now, what you can get out of these things is fantastic, if you're not shooting an old Fuji of some kind you're missing out.
Don't forget you can follow my Fujifilm X-A1 project on instagram: @jamiefakes.photos - Follow me there for my most recent posts, if video's more your thing, subscribe on YouTube for basically these blog posts but in video form, with lovely B-Roll to fill the awkward silences.

Enjoy!
