The thing I like about doing the odd shoot for STNC or infact anyone, is the people you get to meet. It’s easy to forget sometimes that in-between all the hate, the bitching and the only fans accounts that there are real people in the modified car scene with genuine passion for cars, mechanics, engineering, modifying and all aspects of the industry. It’s sad but they get lost in the crowd quite easily. Meeting Lockie for this shoot I got a real sense from him that even though he’s only a young lad, he has huge passion and ambition for anything with a motor. He’d done a lot of the work to his Rocco himself and had big plans for the future. I know anyone can say that and few people follow through, I’m guilty of that (*peering over to the MX-5*) but you can tell he’s really going to do it.
The shoot was very brief, but the biggest reason I liked these photos so much was because of the impact, the grittiness and the grim sky against the car. They work together well. For the main hero shot I went for a slightly different style, less off the floor, less shallow depth of field and tried to get it wider and sharper. Not something I normally do but feel it works here.
